welcome to the soccer mom club!
Aside from being in the kitchen, my life is all about the chaos of every day living. Between soccer tournaments, dance rehearsals, and the normal everyday routine, there’s never a dull moment in our home. I love finding ways to make life feel a little smoother. Whether that’s quick meals for busy nights, organizing our home so it works for a family of 6, or sharing little tips that help us get through and enjoy, the day to day! My oldest daughter recently had a week long soccer tournament. If you’re a soccer mom (or dad!) you know that it isn’t just about cheering on your kiddo. It’s about packing, planning, and keeping your family fueled and sane. So I have compiled a list of must have’s and things that I think are worth getting and actually use. After years of juggling tournaments and practices I’ve learned a few essentials that make the weekend smoother, less stressful and way more fun.
The Ultimate Packing List
Before you leave, make sure you have these musts.
Team Gear: Jerseys, socks, cleats, shin guards, and extra change of clothes
Comfort essentials: Blankets, foldable chairs, sunscreen, hats, jackets and rain gear just in case, UMBRELLA is a must
Hydration! water bottles for everyone and a cooler stocked with drinks
Snacks for on-the-go: Granola bars, fruit, trail mix, and healthy finger foods
Entertainment: small games, extra soccer balls, footballs, etc. Things to keep the siblings entertained. Some places have a playground, while a lot of them do not.
Tip: Pack a small “Emergency bag” with first-aid items, extra hair ties and wipes. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later.
Meal Prep for Busy Days
Tournament days are long, so food is everything. Here’s how I survive the days of non-stop activity with kids in tow.
Breakfast: Overnight oats, yogurt parfaits, or breakfast sandwiches you can easily grab and go.
Lunches: Wraps, sandwiches, or pasta salads that can be made ahead and stored in a cooler.
Snacks: Cut veggies, dips, fruit, protein bars, trail mix, and popcorn.
Dinners: Quick cook meals for the hotel, Airbnb etc. Think sheet pan dinners, crockpot meals, or pre-made casseroles you can reheat.
Tip: Use reusable containers to keep food organized and reduce waste at the fields.
